Epson Perfection V500 is the first in the Epson scanner family to replace the traditional cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) light source with the light emission diode (LED) technology. There are numerous customer advantages with this current technology.

Zero warm up time. There is no waiting time before the scanner starts to scan
As the Epson Perfection V500 LED is made of an array of semiconductors, its working principle allows it to light up instantly. With this beneficial characteristic, there is no warm up time needed for the light source, unlike conventional CCFLs. Users can start scanning more efficiently. There is also no warm-up time when switching from scanning film to scanning reflective images.
With no warm-up and efficient LED white light, you can experience fast, overall scan speeds.
Less impact on the monthly power bill
Less power consumption is required and less heat is generated which means less wasted energy. During operation, power is reduced by 20% over previous models. While in ready mode, power is reduced by 44% over previous models.
More environmental friendly
Mercury free lamp
LEDs do not burn a filament, so they tend to last longer than traditional CCFLs. LEDs also don’t change color with age, as CCFLs can. LED transparency unit for the Epson Perfection V500.
