Epson and OS X Lion (Mac OS 10.7.x): Software support information
Software issues that may occur during installation of an Epson product.
Software issues that may occur once installed.
Mac OS X Lion (10.7.x)
Epson inkjet printers, All-In-Ones and scanners.
Listed below are the known issues and potential solutions relating to bundled software in Mac OS X Lion (10.7.x). Software covered includes Epson photo and Epson fax software, and third party scanning software (Abbyy, SilverFast, Presto!, Monaco EZcolor). Refer to the issues listed below prior to product installation in case you encounter any of them when installing your Epson product.
Macintosh operating systems released up until 2004 supported drivers and applications designed for Macintosh systems with PowerPC processors. Since the release of Intel-based Macintosh systems, starting with Tiger (OS 10.4.x Intel) support has gradually moved away from this older PowerPC build towards the newer Universal driver support. Universal drivers can run natively on an Intel-based Mac OS (such as OS X Lion), offering optimal performance. The inclusion of Apple's Rosetta in OS X Tiger, Leopard, and Snow Leopard allowed users to continue using PowerPC drivers and software. However, as Rosetta support is not included in OS X Lion, PowerPC drivers and software are no longer supported.
The information below is provided as is. Epson is not responsible for the content of third-party websites and provides third-party contact information to help you find technical support. This contact and support information may change without notice.
ColorBase for SpectroProofer: The application fails to save the calibration file
The directory that files should be saved to has changed in Mac OS X Lion. An updated version of the ColorBase software (ver. 2.61) will be released that will save the calibration file to the correct file directory.
The printer models listed above will be supported by the new version.
LFP Remote Panel will not open
The current release of LFP Remote Panel will not work in OS X Lion as it is a PowerPC-based application. Software and drivers which are PowerPC-based are not supported as Apple have not provided support for Rosetta in Mac OS 10.7.
Stylus Pro 3880, Stylus Pro 4450, Stylus Pro 4880, Stylus Pro 7450, Stylus Pro 7880, Stylus Pro 9450, Stylus Pro 9880, Stylus Pro 11880
An updated version of LFP Remote Panel will be released to allow firmware updates when a new version of firmware for one of these models becomes available. Most functions provided by LFP Remote Panel can be performed through the printers control panel.
Installation of the ICC Profile (Adobe) package fails
The installation fails because the access directory has changed. However, as OS X Lion already comes with Adobe ICC profiles, it is not necessary to install.

Epson Event Manager may crash when attempting to use the network push-scan feature from the All-In-One's LCD control panel
When attempting to scan to a computer over a network connection (wired or wireless), such as 'Scan to PC', 'Scan to PDF' or 'Scan to Email', the Epson Event Manager application may crash when attempting to open Epson Scan in OS X Lion.
All Epson scanners bundled with the software (e.g. Perfection V30, V300, V33, V330, V500, V600, V700, V750 Pro, GT-1500, GT-S50, GT-S50N, GT-S80, GT-S80N)
This may not happen every time, so if it occurs we recommend closing Epson Scan and attempt to scan again. As a workaround, we recommend initiating the scan from the computer instead by opening Epson Scan directly. For guidance on using Epson Scan with the computer, please see the following article: How to perform a basic scan with EPSON Scan
Epson has released a new version of Event Manager and this issue is resolved in version 2.50.02 or higher. The latest version of Event Manager can be downloaded and installed from the Drivers & Software section of the Epson support website.

As a workaround, you can continue to scan high quality images in various file formats (including uncompressed TIFF), with full control over resolution, target size and even the option to apply a profile. EPSON Scan directly controls all of the features of your EPSON scanner. With this software you can scan images in color, grayscale, or black and white and obtain professional quality results. This program is the standard cross-platform interface between your scanner and most applications. You can access it from any application that supports the TWAIN standard.
These models (Perfection 4490/V700/V750) are supported in OS X Lion with Epson Scan; the latest version can be downloaded and installed from the Drivers & Software section of the Epson support website. For most models, Epson Scan should also be available to download - please see the following article for compatibility information: Epson and Mac OS X Lion (Mac OS 10.7.x)
